Hulk Hogan, the most famous grappler in the world, has impacted the wrestling industry more than any superstar in history. Whether battling opponents, running for president or playing a movie role, Hogan redefines pro wrestling with every move he makes into the millenium.
Setting the pace in WCW since his arrival in June 1994, Hogan has faced a myriad of foes with eight world titles to his credit. Launching the mega popularity of the New World Order, Hogan has teamed with Dennis Rodman against the likes of Karl Malone and Jay Leno. To the delight of fans, Hogan shunned his darkside "Hollywood" persona to return to the heroic Hulkster clad in his renown yellow-and-red. One of his most amazing career moments was his astonishing body slam of 7'4", 500 lbs. Andre the Giant before an indoor record crowd of 93,000 at the Pontiac Silverdome.
Few entertainers have affected this country's culture like Hogan. His larger than life persona has gone far beyond the squared circle. From adorning the cover of "TV Guide," "Entertainment Weekly" and "Sports Illustrated" to motion pictures and television shows his magnitude of influence marks Hulk Hogan as a genuine American icon.
Making his screen debut as Thunderlips in Rocky III, Hogan tossed Sylvester Stallone out of the ring, while tossing himself into many movie roles. His credits include Gremlins II, No Holds Barred, Suburban Commando, Mr. Nanny, Spy Hard, Santa with Muscles, Three Ninja's – Escape from Mega Mountain, McKenzie's Island, Muppets in Space and TNT original movies Assault on Devil's Island and Assault on Death Mountain with Carl Weathers and Shannon Tweed. Hulkster also starred in the action-adventure movie version and syndicated series "Thunder In Paradise." Completing his entertainment ensemble are an animated series Hulk Hogan Rockin' Wrestlin' and a hit record Hulk Hogan and the Wrestling Boot Band, which was top-10 on Billboard's children's chart.
Despite his busy schedule, Hulk always finds time to visit with ailing children through the Make-A-Wish and Starlight Foundations as the one of the most requested celebrities.
The millenium may have many questions, but one thing is certain – Hulk Hogan's popularity will continue to soar.
